House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) accused the White House of “desperately” trying to distance itself from Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

Speaking with the Daily Mail, Stefanik accused the Biden administration of moving the goalposts in its statements around the first son’s business arrangements.

“The White House has desperately tried to change their language surrounding Joe Biden’s knowledge and involvement in Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings,” she told the outlet.

The remarks are in line with a letter she co-wrote alongside fellow House Republicans Jim Jordan (R-OH), James Comer (R-KY), and Jason Smith (R-MO), addressed to White House counsel Stuart Delery, demanding to know “why this shift occurred.”

In response, the White House remained evasive, Stefanik said Tuesday.

“Instead of responding to my request, the White House has thus far refused to address my questions surrounding their new position and why they lied to the American people,” she said.

Despite Republican claims that Biden has shifted his answers, the White House adamantly maintains that its position has always remained the same.

“I’ve been asked this question a million times,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Monday. “The answer is not going to change. The answer remains the same: The president was never in business with his son. I just don’t have anything else to add.”
