WASHINGTON, D.C. | Adirondack Community Action Programs will soon set more than $50,000 in federal funding for area head start programs.

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik announced the Department of Health and Human Services funding Aug. 4, saying a grant of $56,281 will be awarded for the local programs.

Head Start programs are free, federally funded programs designed to help children from low-income families succeed in school.

“I am excited to announce that more than $56,000 taxpayer dollars will be returned to the district for the Adirondack Community Action Programs’ Head Start program,” Stefanik said.

“Our Head Start programs are critical to helping children in our North Country schools succeed, as school closures stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic have forced children to miss out on in-person learning and risk falling behind. This funding will create educational opportunities for our kids and set them up for success.”
