SARATOGA, NY — The New York State Fraternal Order of Police endorsed Congresswoman Elise Stefanik for re-election to Congress, according to a Saturday announcement.
“On behalf of the New York State Fraternal Order of Police, I’m proud to announce our endorsement of Congresswoman Elise Stefanik,” said Washington County Sheriff Jeff Murphy.
“She is the right choice for the North Country because she supports the rights of law enforcement officers and has our backs. Congresswoman Stefanik works hard in Congress on legislation that prioritizes our rights and safety. We know that she is a strong supporter of law and order, and she has our full support,” Murphy said.
The Fraternal Order of Police represents over 355,000 members across the country in over 2,100 lodges, and represents thousands of retired and active duty police officers in the North Country.
“I am a firm and proud supporter of our law enforcement community in the North Country and throughout our nation. Especially now, supporting law enforcement is critical amid the rioting and attacks on police officers across the country,” Stefanik said.
Stefanik also too a swipe at Tedra Cobb, her Democratic opponent.
“Unlike my opponent, who refuses to publicly condemn attacks on police officers, I will always Back the Blue.”
