Saratoga: Not only does Taxin’ Tedra Cobb support defunding the police, she has a record of actually voting to cut law enforcement funding and eliminating a St. Lawrence County Deputy Sheriff position.
“Not only is Taxin’ Tedra is on record supporting Pelosi’s anti-police bill that redirects funding from law enforcement, she has a record of actually voting on the St. Lawrence County Legislature to cut law enforcement funding and eliminate a County Deputy Sheriff position,” said Stefanik. “While Democrats, including Cobb campaign volunteers, interns, and supporters, across the country are threatening to defund the police, Far-Left Radical Taxin’ Tedra actually has VOTED to cut law enforcement funding and to eliminate a St. Lawrence County Deputy Sheriff job — putting our community in harm’s way.”
The facts:
- In November 2008, The St. Lawrence County Board Of Legislators Voted To Block The Filling Of A Deputy Sheriff Position. “The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department will be making do with one less deputy after county legislators voted to block the filling of a deputy sheriff position Monday. Sheriff Kevin Wells had requested permission to fill a vacant sheriff’s sergeant position, and ended up losing a deputy sheriff position in the process. Legislators voted 8 to 7 to allow him to fill the sergeant position he requested, but under the condition that he not be allowed to backfill a deputy sheriff position that would become vacant once a sergeant is hired from within the department’s ranks.” (Elizabeth Graham, “Legislators Cut Deputy From Sheriff’s Patrol,” The Journal, 11/4/08)
- Cobb Voted To Keep The Position Vacant. “Voting to keep the deputy position vacant were Legislators Charles House (D-Potsdam), Gregory Paquin (D-Massena), Daniel Girard (D- Louisville), David Forsythe (R-Lisbon), Laura Perry (D-Hopkinton), Tedra Cobb (D-Canton), Peter FitzRandolph (D-Canton), and J. Patrick Turbett (D-Potsdam).” (Elizabeth Graham, “Legislators Cut Deputy From Sheriff’s Patrol,” The Journal, 11/4/08)
