STEFANIK EARNS ENDORSEMENT OF OVER 100 NORTH COUNTRY FAMILY FARMS AND AGRICULTURAL LEADERS
– Farmers and the North Country Agriculture Community Recognize Stefanik as a True Advocate & Experienced Leader in Touch with their Needs –
Glens Falls: The Stefanik campaign today announced the endorsement of 107 family farms and Agribusinesses across the 21st District. The endorsements span not only a number of products, including dairy, apples and other specialty crops, but also farmers markets, retailers, and a farming museum.
“Dairy farmers are people who really work hard and value that, so when we say that Elise is working hard for us in D.C., it means something,” said George Sayward, who owns a dairy farm in Willsboro. “Elise showed her concern for me and my farm when we spoke at the Essex County Fair, but seeing her act on those concerns is the reason so many farmers are backing her.”
“While specialty crops are often forgotten in Albany and Washington, we’ve been lucky to have Elise Stefanik as our Congresswoman,” said Bruce Carpenter, a Christmas tree farmer and maple producer in Lake Luzerne. “The expansion of services, programs, and assistance Elise advocated for in the Farm Bill will be a big help for anyone growing crops that range from Christmas trees to grapes to bed flowers. Naturally, supporting Elise was a no-brainer.”
“Our farm had a work order delayed for 34 days by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services,” said Jesse Mulbury of Northern Orchards Co. in Peru. “We contacted Elise and she helped us get our workers and resolve the holdup.”
“We appreciate Elise’s dedication to stabilizing dairy prices, and the farming community commends the work she has accomplished for North Country farmers,” said Tom Pominville, a dairy farmer from Croghan.
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Elise personally for many years, and I know for a fact that supporting farmers has always been a priority of hers,” said Jon Greenwood, a dairy farmer from Canton. “Elise has worked on many issues important to the farm community, always reaching out and listening to farmers, and willing to work across the aisle. Elise worked with President Trump as he negotiated a trade deal with Canada that will allow farmers to export more milk and stabilize prices. U.S. farmers are walking away with a win. Thank you, Elise!”
“Thank you Elise for sponsoring legislation which protects the North Country farmers and allows us to protect the livelihood for future generations,” said Ron Robbins, a dairy farmer in Sackets Harbor.
“We hosted Elise at our farm earlier this month, and we’re excited to stand up to support Elise for reelection,” said Sue and Pete McElwain of Merry Den Alpaca Farm in North Bangor. “During Elise’s visit, she was attentive to our farm and our needs as businesspeople, and has committed herself to advance the cause of specialty farmers in the North Country.”
“Elise is a stellar Congresswoman because she is delivering results on more than just one issue,” said Charles Hanehan of Hanehan Family Dairy in Saratoga. “While she’s been dairy farmers’ biggest ally, she’s also done so much to protect Fort Drum, support our veterans and fix our broken healthcare system.”
“Since I first ran for Congress, I have fought tirelessly to help farmers – the backbone of the North Country’s economy – address the many difficulties they face,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “It’s an honor to have bipartisan recognition from family farms, orchards, sugar houses, and retailers from all across the 21st District. I will continue to advocate for reforms that will expand markets for Ag products, cut burdensome regulations and resolve labor shortages.”
Congresswoman Stefanik has kept her promises to North Country Farmers by reaching across the aisle to deliver real results, passing important reforms and introducing and cosponsoring critical agricultural legislation:
